Aspen restaurants
After a day on the slopes, enjoying a massage, or strolling though Aspen’s shops, finding just that right place for a bite, beverage, or gourmet meal is both a desire & a necessity.
To assist, we’ve compiled a list of Aspen’s restaurants – from cozy bistros to fine dining to pizza – and categorized them by the time of day they offer their delicacies:
- Breakfast: Open in the morning with options ranging from pastries to full breakfasts to get your day started
- Lunch: Open mid-day, serving light fare to grab and go, all the way to lunches meant to linger and savor
- Après: Known as happy hour in non-ski season. Listings have a bar, probably some appetizers, preferably some good specials and are open in late afternoon and early evening
- Dinner: Serving their offerings in the evening to about 10ish
- Late: A good place to grab a beer, an after-dinner drink or a late night bite
The Bum’s Favs
We spend quite a bit of time in Aspen’s bars and restaurants & are frequently asked, “Where do guys eat?”
Here’s our short list. One common thing you’ll note – bar specials. Go early, grab a drink & enjoy some great food at big savings.
- Aspen Over Easy. If we eat breakfast out, we eat it here.
- Red Onion. Aspen’s oldest restaurant with a great bar. Wings, sliders & great happy hour beer prices.
- J-Bar. Fab burger & truffle fries. Always a fun crowd with a healthy number of locals.
- Matsuhisa. Best sushi in town. Get the yellowtail jalapeño.
- Pacifica. One of our favorite restaurants anywhere. Super bar. Great après/early evening bar deals. Best raw bar in town. Ready to splurge? The Plateau. Ahhh.
- Ajax Tavern. Best location (base of the gondola) for people watching. Bum favs: Kumamoto oysters, lamb ribs, burger, truffle fries
- Finnbarr’s Pub. Most comfortable bar seats in Aspen. Great decor. Try the fish and chips and the banger sliders.
- Brexi. Good bar menu deals. Mussels are great. The Nutella crepes are heavenly.
- Cache Cache. Prettiest bar in Aspen. Again, good bar menu specials.
- Mezzaluna. Guess what – great après menu! Love the popcorn shrimp and spaghetti Bolognese. Our go-to-spot for pizza.
