Stopped for a Bianchi on the way to the bike race
So it was time to say goodbye to Malibu as we headed north to catch stage 4 of the Amgen Tour or California.
We decided to take the scenic route up the PCH (not sure how far out of LA you have to be before you quit putting “the” before highways). The drive up the PCH is beautiful with its rugged cliffs and pounding surf.
Grapes grapes everywhere and yes, we found a drop of wine to drink
There was no way we could make it through miles and miles of central coast vineyards without a stop. A quick check on the iPhone for dog-friendly Paso Robles wineries and we found Bianchi Winery - two paws up!
Bianchi Winery is a beautiful winery off Hwy 46 just outside of Paso Robles.
We sampled whites and then selected a Sauvignon Blanc & Pinot Grigio before heading out to enjoy the flowers, pond and waterfalls nestled amidst the vines.
Both wines were well-balanced, smooth and refreshing on a warm day.
A bit more sampling produced a shopping list of wines that included the Pinto Grigio, a Syrah and a couple of bottles of an awesome Late Harvest.
And dog-friendly it was. Kibo found a shady place under a table before meeting Cole, the Bianchi winery dog.
